Kamakura is a small seaside city in Japan and is known for their temples and shrines.
Compared to the large busy stations in Tokyo, Kamakura station felt small and intimate.
There were only few tracks and it had an antique feel to it.
As we walked towards the Great Buddha, we saw small shops and food stands.
In front of one store, they had these two Kiki dolls lain outside in the sun.
They were wearing fish slippers!
The Great Buddha was stunning. It's the second largest Buddha in Japan!
It was a beautiful, sunny day when we visited.
We were able to pay to go inside the buddha.
It was interesting to see how hollow it was.
It made me wonder how it was built and put together since it's so grand.
I didn't know there was a bamboo grove in Kamakura. It's located at Hokokuji Temple.
I'd been to the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto, but this one didn't disappoint.
Hokokuji Temple and the forest are nestled in a secluded residential area.
It felt like we entered a different world when we walked through the entrance.
It's not a large temple or forest, which made it feel more intimate and quiet.
For me, Kamakura was a nice escape from the large city vibe.
There was a lot of nature, temples, and a very different atmosphere.
There was less hustle-bustle and it felt refreshing.
